SUMMARY: This position is responsible for processing manifest import/export documentation within established deadlines and regulatory requirements. May receive, reconcile, consolidate and/or summarize documents and information from customers.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To prepare the required discharge lists and manifests prior to the vessel arrival and timely deliver them to the office at the port. To coordinate and supervise that the custom broker meets and prepares all workflow and forms required prior to the vessel arrival. Ensure that the custom broker delivers all required papers to the office. Timely prepare all corrections to the manifest. Be on top of all documents reported as incomplete by origin to prepare the required corrections. To prepare and distribute weekly longstanding reports to accounts assigned. To coordinate that all lcl/ltl units are unloaded within the time frame indicated by Custom. Deliver all arrival notification to customers domiciled in the assigned locations. To track all units not unloaded. To keep a good track on cargo to be manifested/cleared. To coordinate all tasks related to cargo delivery with the Dispatcher assigned. To coordinate the payment of any fine if incurred. To keep a good record/file of all tasks performed, by vessel. Performs other duties as requested.
EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree in international trade business administration or related fields is desirable. Or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE: 1-year experience in the transportation area.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
COMPETENCIES: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external people. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team.
OTHER: Advanced English level. Knowledge of customs laws and regulations (desired)
