Role Purpose
Lead day-to-day accounting operations for a container terminal/logistics environment, ensuring timely and accurate financials, strong internal controls over payments and revenue streams (shipside, storage, yard/warehouse), and full regulatory compliance. Partner cross-functionally with Operations (berth/yard), Commercial (client billing) and Legal (contracts/pledges) to keep books accurate and audit-ready at all times.
Key Responsibilities
1. Own the monthly close (GL, sub-ledgers) and deliver complete, accurate financial statements by T+5.
2. Oversee AP/AR: three-way match, vendor onboarding, customer billing, credit notes, and collections support with clear aging dashboards.
3. Execute bank and balance-sheet reconciliations monthly; resolve variances within the same period.
4. Maintain fixed-asset register (IAS 16): capitalization, depreciation, and project-to-asset handover (e.g., warehouses, yard equipment).
5. Apply IFRS/IAS to common port/logistics topics (IFRS 15 revenue streams; IFRS 16 lease assessments; IAS 2 inventory where applicable).
6. Coordinate tax filings (DGI) and statutory compliance calendars; prepare support for external advisors/auditors.
7. Strengthen payment governance (maker–checker, vendor master hygiene, payee-name verification, proof packs).
8. Build Excel-driven automation (Power Query/pivots/macros) for recurring reports and reconciliations.
